The Stanley Reservoir (also known as Mettur dam) is one of largest fishing reservoirs in South India. Its main source of water is the River Kaveri (Cauvery). Three minor tributaries Palar, Chennar and Thoppar enter the Kaveri on her course above Stanley Reservoir.
